The Attitude of Money!
You have probably heard the old mantra: "It
takes money to make money!" Most of us have heard
it many times in our lives. And if you stop and think
about it, the people that you heard actually saying those
somewhat infamous words, didn’t actually have any money
themselves. The reason is that people do not understand
the true meaning of the statement.
If that statement were true, then ninety
percent of the millionaires and successful entrepreneurs in the
country would simply not exist. Because every survey,
report, research study and national statics show conclusively,
that a preponderance of today’s millionaires are self-made
people who started from scratch, with nothing but desire.
Here is an equally famous statement: How
do you make a million dollars? You start with two million!
While it is true that if you start with a
pile of money, you have a fair chance of making more, the
stories of those who have lost or squandered fortunes are
legendary and plentiful.
So then, what does the statement, "It takes
money to make money," really mean? The true meaning behind
the statement is this: A person must acquire the attitude that
money is available to you. When you gain the confidence
that money is available to you, even if it is not yet in your
pocket, you will start to make money. It is called by
those who have money as: The Attitude of Money.
And if you ask those individuals who have money, especially
those who acquired the money themselves and not inherited it or
won it in the lottery, they will tell you that this is indeed a
powerful and accurate concept.
If this sounds a little like psycho-babble
motivational speaker dribble, I don’t blame you for thinking
that, at least at first. Goodness knows there are way too
many cheerleaders out there with catchy slogans and fancy
speeches, who are promising you great success, and never giving
you a single hard suggestion to follow, other than - Think
Positive. But this is not a motivational column or
article, it is a marketing column, so let me prove the validity
of this concept to you.
Here is the basis of The Attitude of
Money belief. If your finances are lacking at the
moment, then You don’t have a lack of money. There is
plenty of money in the world. Even in a recession. What
you have is: A lack of good ideas. Because money
naturally flows to good ideas.
The more you think about that statement the
more you will realize its truth. Did you know that some of
the biggest and best companies in America started during very
hard economic times. General Electric, Disney, Hewlett
Packard and Microsoft were all startups during steep declines in
the U.S. economy. GE started during the panic of 1873,
Disney started during the recession of 1923-24, HP began during
the Great Depression, and Bill Gates and Paul Allen founded
Microsoft during the recession of 1975. And these are not
isolated examples. I was able to find over 100 other major
companies that either started or excelled during the great
depression of the 1930s. And not just major corporations,
but other things too, such as:
Movies. Almost every town of any size saw
the opening of new and bigger cinemas. 'Talkies' added to
the popularity of the cinema.
Radio. In the 1930s radio became widely
available to better paid workers.
Mass produced automobiles excelled.
Electrical industries. During the 1930s
most houses that weren't yet on mains electricity were
connected. A huge range of companies did well as a
result - ranging from the manufacturers of cables and light
switches to those producing electric carpet sweepers and so
on.
At the luxury end of the market, air
travel did well - but it was still generally expensive and
only for the few.
The very low interest rates encouraged
house building, especially when it was clear that prices had
stopped falling.
Our history is rich with examples of people
who have done well during a recession. The current
economic slowdown is no different. While some industries
are cutting back, laying off and even failing, others such as
our own Active 8 Company are seeing a significant increase in
business. When sources of income begin to dry up then
people naturally start looking around for other sources in order
to maintain their lifestyle.
Have you ever considered how much money just
one big corporation such as AT&T takes in? If you had the
gross income from AT&T for only one minute, you would never have
to work for the rest of your life. They make millions of
dollars every hour. And that is just one company out of
millions of businesses in our country, not to mention the entire
world. There is not lack of money in the world. There may
be a lack of money in your pocket, but not in the world.
The challenge is not to find money, it will find you.
Money naturally flows to good ideas. In
order for you to excel in any market condition, you need to come
up with good ideas. And of course it is especially true in
times of recession. Do these need to be big ideas, like
inventing Windows, or a microwave oven? No!
What is needed are ideas that drive people to
what you are selling or offering. If your products and
services are good, people need them even in a recession.
But sometimes it takes a little extra effort and a few creative
ideas on your part to get them to your door.
When is the last time you really sat down and
took a look at what you are doing to market or promote your
business that is new and different? I’m guessing it’s been
a while. And if you are going to do that, then why don’t
you also think of ways that you can market continually without
having to do it yourself all the time.
You already know that you’ll make more money
if you have 5 people doing what you do, rather than just you
doing it alone. Same with marketing. If you have a
system that constantly puts offers, specials and enticements out
to your customers and potential customers, you will glean more
returns that if you do it once a month. Remember, I’m not
talking about advertising. Advertising is a direct expense
which has to come off the income column and reduces net profits.
I have never been a fan of reducing net profits. I am not
saying that advertising doesn’t work, we all know that it does,
but so does marketing and it normally doesn’t cost anything.
So, you want an example, right? OK,
I’ll give you one that is starring you in the face. The
internet. A website is a constant marketing devise.
It’s up and working all the time 24/7. And so is everything you
do on the internet. Banner ads, affiliate links, blogs,
you name it...it is up and running all the time. And if
used correctly, will drive traffic to you all the time.
At the Active 8 company, we teach our
distributors how to place a personal presence on the internet in
hundreds of places with rich, worthy enticements that attract
customers and prospects to a specific page or site. Once
there, they are given something of value usually for free.
They are asked if they would like to participate in other ideas
or receive other offers. If they say yes, then an
automated system kicks in that starts sending out professionally
pre-written, timed sequenced emails giving them the information
they requested. Of course, they can opt-out any time with
no problem. After all we only want to talk to those people
who want what we have to offer. Anyone else is a waste of
our time and theirs, since they are not interested.
By concentrating on only those who respond
and are interested, our distributors have a very high conversion
rate. Needless to say, new people coming in are quite
impressed because they don’t have to cold call, do any selling
or try and recruit anyone. It’s all done through a system
that works for them 24/7 - never sleeping. Which is one
reason that our retention of distributors is over 90%. You just
can’t argue the numbers!
Can you do that for your business? Sure
you can, it just takes a bit of ingenuity and some careful
forethought. But you can do it and it does work
exceedingly well. Take a little time during the holidays
and think through what might be a good vehicle for your
business.
And as always, if you don’t have a business
as yet, then look into ours. Hundreds of people have and love
what they have found. For more information go to:
